Like all things in nature, including trail races, evolution is inevitable. In 2021 we have decided to replace the Flint Ridge Trail Race with a new event called Wild in the Woods. For many of you, that name will hearken back to the St. Charles County Parks races of yesteryear and that is exactly what we’re going for. Moving forward, Wild in the Woods will not have a set home park. Instead it will rotate between a number of St. Charles County Parks to showcase the uniqueness of each. The inaugural Wild in the Woods race will take place at Broemmelsiek Park on December 4, 2021 and will have both 5 and 10 mile distances. Wild in the Woods, like the rest of the Trail Series, will offer great swag, Urban Chestnut beer, post race food and new for this year a fire pit, yard games, music and more post race fun.
The race will be the second run of the Big River Trail Series – a competition in which points are tallied for runners that participate in 3 of the 6 events including the Wild in the Woods 5 mile or 10 mile, Skippo 10k, Skippo Half Marathon or Skippo 30k, and the Castlewood Cup 15k.
Points are calculated for runners that participate in each event. More information on scoring is available on the Big River Trail Series page.
