*The Skippo course is going through a few changes due to trail closings, and the request by the park to move all Special Events south of the Trestle. The Skippo course will still be awesome, below are handy turn-by-turn directions to take with you on a test run. The map is currently being updated and will hit the web when ready.
The 10k, Half Marathon, and 30k all begin at the Special Event Area at the very rear of the park and take the first left onto the Riverscene trail
After starting on the Riverscence trail, As you enter the field, run straight across and through a water station. Then, upon entering the woods, you will turn left and run along the railroad tracks. You will remain on this trail past the second mile where you will eventually reach a tunnel on your right.
Go through the tunnel and you hit the stairs! 200 of them ready for your climbing pleasure!!
When you finally reach the top of the stairs you will head down the Lone Wolf trail which will take you past 3 miles and to the creek crossing made famous on the Castlewood Cup Course.
You then head up Grotpeter West, past 4 miles and cross Ries Rd. You then take the old Grotpeter Trail which shoots you downhill on some nice swithback trails all the way past 5 miles and eventually spits you back out near Kiefer Creek Rd.
You’ll run next to the road past the trestle and then reenter the woods about a half mile from the finish. Those doing the Half Marathon and 30k will continue on the road past the finish and begin the loop again. Half Marathon runners will run a short loop around the field before finishing.
A course cutoff time of 6 hours will be enforced on Sunday. All 30K and 50k Relay participants must have started their final loop by 5 hours from the last wave. Any participant that has not started their last loop by that time will be directed through the finish line and automatically moved to the next lowest distance. Course support and volunteers will also be released from their posts at that time.
